Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Arbitrade

Getting Started

What is cryptocurrency arbitrage?

Cryptocurrency arbitrage is the practice of buying cryptocurrency on one exchange where the price is lower and simultaneously selling it on another exchange where the price is higher, profiting from the price difference. Arbitrade automates this process by continuously scanning multiple exchanges for profitable opportunities.

How does Arbitrade work?

Arbitrade uses a 3-tier caching system to monitor prices across multiple cryptocurrency exchanges in real-time:

  • Tier 1: Major pairs (BTC/USD, ETH/USD) refreshed every 1-5 seconds
  • Tier 2: Top 20 cryptos refreshed every 10-30 seconds
  • Tier 3: All other pairs refreshed every 60-300 seconds

When profitable opportunities are detected, our AI algorithms predict execution success and can automatically execute trades based on your settings.

Do I need cryptocurrency to start?

Yes, you need to have cryptocurrency and/or USD on the exchanges you connect. Arbitrade doesn't hold your funds - we execute trades directly on your connected exchanges using your API keys. You maintain full control and custody of your assets.

Which exchanges are supported?

Currently supported:

  • Gemini
  • Bitstamp
  • Kraken

Coming soon:

  • Coinbase Advanced Trade
  • Binance.US

Security & API Keys

Is my data secure?

Yes. Security is our top priority:

  • Encrypted Storage: All API keys are encrypted using Fernet (AES-128) before being stored in our database
  • No Withdrawals: We never request withdrawal permissions on your API keys
  • Trade-Only Access: API keys only need trading permissions
  • You Control Everything: Your funds remain on your exchanges - we never have custody
What API permissions do I need?

For each exchange, create an API key with these permissions:

  • ✅ Read account data (balances)
  • ✅ Place orders (buy/sell)
  • ❌ Withdrawals (DO NOT enable)
  • ❌ Account management (not needed)

IMPORTANT: Never enable withdrawal permissions. Arbitrade only needs to read balances and place trades.

Can I revoke API access anytime?

Yes, absolutely. You can delete your API keys from your exchange accounts at any time, which immediately stops all trading. You can also deactivate exchanges from within Arbitrade's dashboard without deleting the API keys.

Trading & Strategies

What arbitrage strategies does Arbitrade use?

Arbitrade implements 5 proven arbitrage strategies:

  • Spot Arbitrage: Buy on Exchange A, sell on Exchange B (cross-exchange)
  • Triangular Arbitrage: Trade 3 pairs in a cycle within one exchange (e.g., BTC→ETH→USD→BTC)
  • Funding Rate Arbitrage: Profit from differences in perpetual futures funding rates
  • Spot-Perp Arbitrage: Trade spot against perpetual futures
  • Statistical Arbitrage: Mean reversion using Z-score analysis
What is auto-execution and how does it work?

Auto-execution allows Arbitrade to automatically execute trades when our AI predicts high-probability opportunities. You control the settings:

  • Minimum Confidence: Only execute predictions above your chosen threshold (70%, 80%, 90%, 95%)
  • Amount Scaling: Higher confidence = larger trade sizes
  • Safety Rails: Daily limits, capital limits, and slippage protection
  • Kill Switch: Disable all auto-execution instantly from the dashboard

You can also choose to receive signals without auto-execution and manually execute trades yourself.

How much profit can I expect?

Profit potential varies based on:

  • Market volatility (higher volatility = more opportunities)
  • Your capital allocation across exchanges
  • Number of exchanges connected
  • Exchange fees (typically 0.1-0.25% per trade)

Realistic expectations: Most arbitrage opportunities range from 0.3% to 2% gross profit per trade. After fees, net profit is typically 0.1% to 1.5%. With multiple daily trades, this compounds significantly.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. Cryptocurrency trading carries risk.

What are the risks?

Like all trading, arbitrage has risks:

  • Execution Risk: Prices can change between detection and execution
  • Exchange Risk: Exchange downtime or withdrawal restrictions
  • Inventory Imbalance: Funds can accumulate on one exchange over time
  • Fee Impact: Trading fees reduce gross profits
  • Market Risk: Cryptocurrency price volatility

Arbitrade mitigates these with IOC (Immediate-Or-Cancel) orders, slippage protection, and daily trade limits.

Technical Questions

How fast are opportunity notifications?

Our 3-tier caching system provides near-real-time updates. Major pairs (Tier 1) are refreshed every 1-5 seconds. AI predictions are generated every 30 seconds. Opportunities appear in your dashboard instantly via WebSocket connections.

What AI/ML technology do you use?

Arbitrade uses time-series prediction models from HuggingFace (Chronos-T5) fine-tuned on historical arbitrage opportunity data. The model learns patterns in price spreads, execution success rates, and market conditions to predict profitable trades with confidence scores.

Do you handle funds moving between exchanges?

No. Arbitrade does not transfer funds between exchanges. You are responsible for maintaining balanced allocations. The dashboard will show when rebalancing is needed. We may add auto-rebalancing suggestions in the future, but execution remains your responsibility.

What order types do you use?

We use IOC (Immediate-Or-Cancel) market orders for speed and certainty. Orders execute at the current market price or are cancelled if they can't fill immediately. This prevents resting limit orders and reduces execution risk.
